My OBS Output Settings for Game Streaming

My OBS Stream Output Settings for Game Streaming

In the video you can see the quality the OBS settings I use look. So I wanted to create a post titled “My OBS Output Settings for Game Streaming”.

Paladins: Champions of the Realm just happened to be the game I was playing at the time of this OBS recording. I spent many hours testing a combination of stream output settings in OBS to try and find the perfect recipe for the Xbox One X, i5 4670k (4-cores), GTX 760 x2 and Elgato HD60 Pro capture card. Just so you have a visual, I am using the Xbox One X HDMI out port to connect to the in port on the Elgato HD60 Pro via HDMI cable. Then I take another HDMI cable and plug that into the out port on the Elgato HD60 Pro and plug the other end into your monitor. Once that is done you open OBS and setup your sources and add your settings.

So here are the settings that consistently gave me the best results: (Make sure your OBS output mode is set to Advanced).

  • 1080p
  • 60fps
  • NVENC H.264 (nvidia cards only)
  • 9000 CBR (based on your bandwidth)
  • Keyframe Interval: 0
  • Preset: High Performance
  • Profile: Main
  • Level: Auto
  • 2 Pass Encoding (slightly better quality)
  • GPU: 1 (Because I have 2 GPUs. 1 is the second, 0 is the first).
  • B-frames: 2

This video was recorded using these settings. Keep in mind, each person’s settings will vary due to their computer’s specs. The settings above works great for mine, you might have to tweak these OBS settings to achieve perfection on your particular system.

If you think your system could be the bottleneck, maybe it’s time to upgrade?

Here is a budget gaming system that I hand picked specifically for game streaming that will work on YouTube, Mixer and Twitch. With any system, fast or not, adding a video capture card is necessary for producing high quality streams. I use the Elgato HD60 Pro PCIe capture card in my PC. Using a capture card you will notice a huge step up in quality, as opposed to just streaming from your Xbox One X straight to Mixer. A capture card fixes most stream quality situations. Don’t get that confused with bitrate.

Mixer Infographic

a unique profile INFOGRAPHIC Helps You Standout

A custom profile infographic is huge for every game streamers account and branding. I’ll explain, but first! If you are not familiar with Mixer, it’s a game streaming service like Twitch. Don’t know what Twitch is? Then forget it, lol. Just kidding! The Mixer platform is owned and maintained by Microsoft. From what I’ve seen in the gaming market, I think Mixer will gain some momentum and have more growth than Twitch. Let’s see what happens.

Branding your Mixer Channel

Mixer gives you the ability to create whatever your imagination can come up with. Create a custom image in Photoshop or Illustrator, post it to your Mixer profile page and link it out. Mixer does not let you upload images to be hosted on their servers. This is why we have to use image hosting services like Imgur.com. After your image is uploaded to Imgur.com, copy the “Direct” link and paste it into your Mixer profile infographic. This is my Mixer account page – OzGamingDotNet. It’s nothing special, but is indeed setup. Drop me a comment to let me know what you think or if you have any questions. Feel free to copy my format. FYI, this infographic was created in Photoshop CC.

Call of Duty WWII – Lost Connection To Host

call of duty wwii connection errors

The infamous, “Lost Connection To Host” error keeps coming back to haunt me. Over the last few months on Call of Duty WWII for the Xbox One X has given me quite a challenge. I am unable to finish a full game without getting this error, “Lost connection to host/server. Connection timed out”. Every time. The most frustrating part is when you play for extended periods of time and then not get credit for your achievements, bonus points, rewards etc at the end of each game. It’s been months for me… I called Microsoft and they have no idea. I’ve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the error still persists. All other games in my library run perfect. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated in the comments below. Thanks!

Tennis World Tour Crashing

As you will see in this video, Tennis World Tour crashing on the PC happens over and over. A Steam download that keeps crashing. Can you say, refund? Steam denied me. Bastards. So I recorded a short video of when the game crashes. Maybe they will find it someday. Mind you, this is on a very capable PC for a game like this. Before I owned Tennis World Tour for the PC, I purchased it for the Xbox One X, it crashed there too. It cost me $79, but this time I called Microsoft and had the charge removed. They just deactivate the game on your console that never worked in the first place. 🤣

Is Tennis World Tour crashing on you too? Let me know in the comments.

Tennis World Tour Is Horrible

Tennis Would Tour is horrible, at least for me on the PC. Maybe they patched up the Xbox One version, because that was horrible too. The PC version is horrible, full of bugs, constant crashing, just an awful experience. These guys at TWT are criminals for taking our money. They knew what they were doing and still released it. I consider that a crime. I would like to know who allowed it to be released to the public? That is …
